In sports, people often talk about a moment in a game or in a season that changed the outcome… if it wasn’t for this one instance, everything would have finished differently. This could be positive or negative.
“Team X won the Super Bowl because this happened in October!”
“Team Y lost the Stanley Cup because player A got hurt in January!”
Of course, this is conjecture! In team sports, at a professional level, we are talking about hundreds of thousands of hours of training divided into dozens of backgrounds and personalities. so how could a single instance “change” the outcome?
Society seems to always be looking for the ONE thing!
When someone makes it big in sports, in career, in life in general interviewers often ask, “what was the one thing that got you here?”
If you don’t know by now. There are a thousand things, a thousand hours, a thousand failures that contribute to the daily reactions, the daily interactions, and the daily outcomes by your own subconscious and conscious that has been created in everything up to this point!
The decisions you make at 5 or 18 or 50 under the exact same circumstances will be fundamentally different decisions. Because we learn, we grow, and we change based on our lives and the interactions we have in life.
In the past couple of months, I have had a ton of people ask about my upcoming run for Schererville Clerk-Treasurer.
“Is this something you always wanted to do… or how did this come up?”
My answer is always the same.
“NOT AT ALL, it wasn’t even on my radar”
Everything in my life up until now has prepared me for this elected position. Three months ago, I didn’t have political aspirations. Yet, my experiences, my successes and more importantly my failures have brought me to a place where other people saw that my qualities fit the requirements of this position to make a positive impact on our community.
The spark was a phone call, but the preparation has been going on for my lifetime.
I am ready to serve the public as Schererville Clerk-Treasurer!
